SUMMER/TRANSMT FESTIVAL 2018

Well, well, well, Summer 2018, you surpassed all our expectations. You gave us the ability to talk about weather at least 50 times more than the usual British quota, to total strangers. You made me sweat in places I never knew sweated. You made us believe we’d win the World Cup. We didn’t even mind that much when we didn’t cus we still had a tan. And you gave us the confidence to go to weddings, festivals and pretty much any outdoor event without even taking a cagoule.

This meant the vast majority of gigs and festivals felt like the greatest we’d ever experienced. Watching Foo Fighters at the Olympic Stadium was not only one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to, but it certainly helped that sun was setting whilst Dave Grohl decided to do a cover of John Lennons ‘Imagine’ fused with Van Halens ‘Jump’. Special indeed.

It also meant that when I headed up to Glasgow, (which, by the way, is one of the friendliest cities I’ve ever visited), to cover this years TRNSMT festival for Virgin, it was also hotter than Barbados. The line up was ridiculously good. Three of my absolute favourites; Stereophonics, Liam Gallagher & Arctic Monkeys. And they were just the headliners. Throw in Shed Seven, James Bay, Miles Kane, Tom Grennan and many more. It was obviously gonna go off.

In between smashing as many ice creams and working on a very deep Glaswegian tan, I sat down with as many bands and artists as I could wrestle for a chat. Here’s who I found.

If I look a tad lost, it’s because I was trying to hide my (not so secret) love for Kelly, since the age of 14.

Chatting silk shirts and The Rolling Stones with the most chiselled man in music, James Bay.

Utterly brilliant and super lovely, Shed Seven

A man so cool, I wasn’t too keen on standing next to to have a photo with. Miles Kane.

Talking World records and tanning with the adorable Tom Grennan.

TRNSMT you were awesome!
